Thank you for praying with us through her appointments today.

It was about 1.5 hours when they called to say Dr. Johnson was ready to meet with me. She said everything went really well and she was impressed with the way things look. She took pictures with the cast off to show us the incision before and after the stitches were out. This was great for us to see because it helped us better understand when she says some area hurts, pulls, stings. We are so pleased with how it looks. It is truly amazing what they were able to do. They manipulated the hip and it moved exactly as they had hoped it would and the xray showed good healing. Alex requested rainbow colors for her cast and told Dr. Johnson to surprise her. She said it may have been her favorite cast she has done! When I look at her sweet rainbow cast I am reminded of God’s many promises! Many huge answers to prayers.

The cast needed a little adjustment before we left since she is so active they realized it would need to be shortened just a touch on her long leg so she could bend it more easily to scoot around. They want to keep her in the cast till approximately mid April and then we will head back for a one to two week stay. In this visit the cast will be removed and she will have two therapy sessions daily to learn to move the leg and work on strengthening as well as be fitted for the final phase of prosthetic making.

Sometime in May or June we will go back for first prosthesis and a week or two of therapies three times a day to learn to use it properly.

We got a clean bill of health from all of her doctors and all were highly impressed with her recovery. Dr. Christi, the neurologist was amazed that she scored 100% on her assessment of the nerve response and sensory.

We are beyond grateful for how God has looked out for Alex and protected and strengthened her. How he has handled every detail and given these doctor such amazing wisdom and ability. We are so very grateful for the prayers of His people and the love and encouragement up to this point in her journey. Each one of you has played an important role in her story and we are thankful for you and love you.

After leaving the hospital we all had a huge urge to get home and decided we probably weren’t going to sleep well tonight because we are just ready to be home. We drove the hour back to the rental, packed, cleaned up, and headed out. This place where we stayed in Quinlan has been a blessing for our family this last month. We cannot imagine anywhere else we could have stayed thay would have given her this perfect environment and fresh air for this season of recovery. If you are ever in Cental Texas and need a place to stay this is it. Alex has serenaded us as we started our trip! She loves this microphone.

We are excited to be home together as a family and continue her recovery there. There is a long road ahead of her still but the surgery and stay in Texas chapter is closed and we are looking forward to what is next.

A sweet friend from church put this meal train together for our homecoming and adjustment. Thank you.
