2nd opinions at Shriners Children's hospital

We went to Greenville SC for a second opinion appointment at Shriners Orthopedic Hospital. The bonus of the hospital being in Greenville was all the family we have in that area and getting an opportunity for quick visits. The sweet playtime, hugs, and encouragements from family were therapeutic for all of us.

This hospital had a really awesome waiting room. Alex enjoyed the ride on toys, the yoda, and the large animals. She also enjoyed playing the games on the touch screen in the office during the appointment. We loved the zebra statue in the lobby and had to get a picture of Alex with it since she is our little zebra.

We are glad we that we had this appointment even though on the surface it felt like we could have found out the same information over a phone call with them. As we learn the ropes of hospitals and insurance we have learned that some hospitals and doctors can do virtual consults with out of state patients and some cannot, therefore, a physical appointment is required. In this situation, we were glad for the connections that were made with a referral from this doctor and validation that we are moving in the right direction for Alex's treatment plan.

One sweet treat from this appointment was that Alex's great Aunt and Uncle drove over to give us hugs at the doctor before the appointment and we were able to spend some time praying together. Uncle Wallace read Psalm 20 with us and prayed with us for Alex. We have been working on memorizing Psalm 91 with the children during these last several months and will begin working on Psalm 20 next. The Psalms have been a great encouragement to us during these months of unknowns, concerns, questions, and decisions.

Dear Jesus, you really are our banner. You are the one who leads us and you protect us and you guide us and you are our shepherd and you are our best friend and I thank you for holding Alex in the palm of your hand and close to you as her shepherd. We are all your sheep and she is a very special sheep, and we pray that you will bless her today and every day and fulfill all her prayer requests. In Jesus Name we pray, Amen
